After the impacts of the pandemic, we finally ushered in the promising year of 2023. Right after the New Year’s Day holiday, TATU Highway Group secured its first order of the year: road marking construction project on Haiyan Road in Nantong Tongzhou Bay.

Based on on-site surveys and combined with the regional positioning and traffic characteristics of Haiyan Road, TATU Group customized an exclusive marking layout scheme for the road.

Firstly, standard hot-melt screed flat lines are laid for the inner solid lanes, featuring high cost performance to satisfy basic traffic demands. The central carriageway is marked with distinctive three-color "rainbow lines" in red, yellow and blue — a signature marking for tourist highways with bright and eye-catching visual effects. Nano nylon chessboard-shaped markings are applied on the outer solid lines, which deliver outstanding hydrophobic performance and superior night reflective visibility on rainy days.

The highlight of this project lies in the outer edge lines, which adopt high-standard nano nylon chessboard markings widely used in developed European and American countries. This marking type integrates multiple strengths: high visibility, strong rumble strip warning effect, excellent drainage capacity and outstanding decorative appearance.

The outer edge of the road witnesses frequent passage of vehicles and pedestrians. Moreover, the outer section of Haiyan Road sits at the lower elevation of the pavement. Conventional thick hot-melt edge lines would hinder rainwater drainage in wet weather, reducing marking recognizability; prolonged water pooling may even damage the pavement and road subgrade. Therefore, the outer edge markings must offer excellent rainy-night visibility, efficient water drainage and effective rumble warning, which is why we selected nano nylon chessboard markings for this section.

Three distinctive marking types laid along this coastal thoroughfare turn Haiyan Road into a unique, eye-catching traffic landscape after construction.

To rapidly deliver a refreshed traffic outlook for Haiyan Road, TATU Group deployed high-efficiency Wellroad hot-melt road marking trucks for the project, cutting labor costs while drastically boosting construction efficiency.

The Wellroad 5184THX hot-melt marking truck was used to lay the nano nylon chessboard outer edge lines. Equipped with full intelligent control throughout operation, it achieves a marking speed up to 8 kilometers per hour, producing neat lines with uniform coating thickness and consistent spacing. Apart from great hydrophobicity, warning performance and reflectivity, the outer markings of Haiyan Road also present an attractive aesthetic look.

The Wellroad RGZ300 ride-on marking machine handled the hot-melt screed inner solid lines on Haiyan Road. Its ultra-high working speed and efficiency are 2 to 3 times that of conventional stop-and-feed ride-on marking equipment. It delivers perfectly straight lines with uniform thickness and strong adhesion, extending the service life and reflective performance of road markings by approximately 30%.

With the efficient joint operation of the two marking vehicles, the full-length marking construction of Haiyan Road was completed expeditiously.
