The WELLROAD WRD5110TFZ crash attenuator truck adopts a Dongfeng cargo vehicle chassis fitted with a high-quality Cummins six-cylinder eco-friendly turbocharged electronic fuel injection diesel engine. Its core performance features are listed below:
The energy-absorbing crash attenuator assembly is mounted on the vehicle rear. The attenuator block is filled with aerospace-grade energy-absorbing materials, which work together with specially bent aluminum alloy tubes to dissipate impact force from rear-end striking vehicles. It protects frontline construction workers and equipment, minimizes damage to the colliding vehicle, and greatly reduces injury risks for occupants inside the striking vehicle.
The main boom frame structure features a 90-degree rotary mechanism that realizes two-stage boom extension, lifting and folding. Four vehicle outriggers provide four-point support to significantly boost parking stability on construction sites.
An integrated electronic traffic guidance system is installed onboard. Equipped with essential safety warning devices including strobe lights and switchable LED arrow indicators, it guides oncoming vehicles from behind and minimizes disruptions to traffic flow caused by roadwork ahead.
The vehicle is equipped with an outward-bending crash attenuator featuring superior manufacturing craftsmanship, higher safety factors and optimized cost control compared to inward-bending designs. It delivers longer effective interception length, wider side protection angles, larger overall coverage area and better component interchangeability.
Manufactured leveraging WELLROAD’s strengths in formulating product standards and in-house production of core components, the WELLROAD crash attenuator block consists of support posts and retaining rings connected by a frame of custom aluminum alloy tubes. Aerospace-grade aluminum honeycomb is filled inside the block. The honeycomb material and bent aluminum tubes jointly absorb impact energy from rear collisions, offering full-width crash protection along the entire length of the assembly.
Based on different aluminum tube bending structures, WELLROAD crash attenuator blocks are divided into two types: outward-bent tube style and inward-bent tube style.
WELLROAD crash attenuator trucks support optional full-import or semi-import attenuator blocks of both outward-bent and inward-bent structures according to application scenarios and customer requirements. The outward-bent tube attenuator block is the preferred option for WELLROAD vehicles that prioritize performance, quality, protection effect and long-term operation costs, for the following reasons:
(1) Outward-bent aluminum tubes deflect off-track vehicles away from the blind zone at the truck rear, while inward-bent designs offer no side-angle impact protection.
(2) Outward-bent attenuators feature longer effective interception length, minimizing shock transmission to the vehicle chassis.
(3) Outward-bent aluminum tubes provide a wider protective coverage area and divert side impacts to the main attenuator body for more comprehensive safety coverage.
(4) Despite complex production processes and higher manufacturing costs, its modular design enables convenient replacement of damaged components after collisions.
